food overload

18 Apr

i will be documenting my trip to the states by categories: food, stuff i got, and locations. i think this will make it easier to post about this awesome trip :)

first off of course, the foooood! we ate so much during these 9 days, but we don’t regret a single bite, everything was beyond delicious!
we had a running joke : “if in doubt, then always avocado” it was kind of like our theme food. we had it at every breakfast, and sometimes in sandwiches too- we just couldn’t get enough of the stuff!

in my scottsdale post there’s a picture of the bird, this insane omelette filled with turkey, pepperjack cheese, mushrooms, and of course- avocado. here’s another picture of it:

the bird is the word

it came with a side of fruit and potatoes, and it was just an explosion of flavors and tastiness! i had it every day for breakfast. not ashamed to admit it. the place we had this amazing treat at is breakfast club. needless to say that we highly recommend stopping by for the bird and a glass of super awesome cold tasty orange juice.

at our friend’s wedding, we had the chance to taste some crazy yummy cake pops, the groom was a smooth oreo cake, and the bride a velvety sugar butter cake. they were almost too cute to eat, but so delicious, one couldn’t resist!

bride and groom cake pops

since the bride is american, and the groom austrian, the dinner buffet was an original mix of both cultures: wienerschnitzel and potato salad, and mini burgers accompanied by mac’n’cheese. there was also a delicious salad, which unfortunately i didn’t take a picture of, baby spinach leaves, croutons, dried cranberries and cheese.

at olive & ivy i had an incredibly good lemonade. i know, lemonade, right? what could be so special about it? well, it was the perfect mix of zesty, sweet, fruity and minty. deeeelish! unfortunately we didn’t eat anything there, we were still stuffed from our stint at breakfast club, but the food looked amazing!

one evening we were so tired that we decided that it was time for pizza hut. i crave pizza hut, all the time! most probably because we don’t really have it in europe, only in a couple of cities, so wherever i go to a place that has the hut, i don’t leave till i’ve had one awesome pie :)

we left arizona after five days, and went to huntington beach in california, and continued our food bonanza there, with the best burger ever. no joke, 25° (degrees) on walnut street has the juiciest, tastiest, lushest burgers. and incredible sweet potato fries aswell.

like manna from heaven

our usual breakfast spot became the sugar shack on main street, where we would get our daily avocado fix in a breakfast burrito. i had never heard of this, but after trying it, i wondered how i could live without it! a soft tortilla, wrapped around an omelette with mushrooms, pepperjack cheese and caramelized onions, that hugs huge chunks of avocado. it blew my mind!

i also couldnt leave the states without having had my beloved cherry coke
